Our Services

Lead the Way HR Concepts serves as a professional resource for business owners to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, building HR Information Systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems (ATS), resulting in effective recruitment efforts to obtain and maintain top talent, create documents specific to business needs, and efficient onboarding practices that creates an outstanding employee experience. 


We act as liaison between companies and employees to communicate benefits, policies and procedures, help create an environment for diversity, equity, and inclusion, developing needed training, coaching line managers on leadership behaviors and practice, employee relations, and compensation. 


We also provide individual clients with resume building, cover letter creation, one-on-one interview preparation, explanation of new hire benefits, and best practices for employment opportunities that lead to a successful new position or career change.

Meet Aleta Way

With over 34 years of HR expertise—20 years as a Military HR Specialist and 14 years in civilian and union environments—Aleta Way is a seasoned professional dedicated to driving positive change in the workplace. Throughout her career, she has successfully managed HR departments, developed and led strategic HR initiatives, and served as a trusted partner for multi-state businesses.


Aleta has held key roles as an HR/Benefits Representative, HR Generalist, and HR Manager, excelling in:

✔ Compensation analysis and HR policy development

Her expertise spans industries including construction, government, military, healthcare, automotive, and the building trades. She has successfully collaborated with small business owners, union representatives, brokers, and vendors to create lasting HR policies, including military leave, telework programs, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives that remain in place today.


Aleta has represented management in disciplinary proceedings, grievance hearings, and settlement conferences. She is highly skilled in interpreting policies, processing HR changes, and guiding employees through benefit and leave options. Additionally, she has played a pivotal role in revising compensation structures by conducting salary surveys and job analyses.


Aleta holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management and an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) and currently serves as Vice President of the UMGC-SHRM Chapter. Aleta has led workforce development workshops, including resume writing and interview preparation, helping job seekers land their dream roles. She has also guided new business owners on the importance of building a strong HR foundation. A Baltimore, MD native, Aleta now resides in Chicago, IL.

About the CEO

Lead the Way HR Concepts is veteran-owned and was born from a passion for human resources, unfulfilled work experiences, and consistent prayers. 


Aleta Way has been an HR professional for 34 years: 20 years as a military HR Specialist and 14 years in the civilian sector and union environments. In her career, Aleta has single-handedly managed 3 HR Departments in HR/Benefits Representative, HR Generalist, and HR Manager roles. She is a strategic partner, providing leadership and management of people and programs for multi-state businesses, serving as an ethical EEO and Affirmative Action Officer, creating and facilitating manager and employee training programs, mastering employee relations and employee engagement initiatives (motivational activities, conducted surveys, employee portal content management, website career content, tuition reimbursement, EAP activities, and exit interviews. Aleta has been an agent of change for employers in construction, local and federal governments, military, automotive industry, healthcare, and the building trades, having successfully collaborated with brokers, vendors, small business owners, union representatives, and individuals from all walks of life. She has created military leave and telework policies, and diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives (DEI) that are still in place today. 


Aleta has represented management during progressive discipline, settlement conferences, grievance proceedings and hearings, as well as interpreted and applied policy, processed changes and elections, and counseled employees in health benefit and leave options, and implemented HRIS and ATS systems. She has revised compensation programs, to include conducting annual salary surveys and job analysis. She holds a bachelor's degree in human resource management and is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Maryland Global Campus, as well as a senior certification (SHRM-SCP) from the Society of HR Management.


Aleta brings her own personal, non-conventional style to consulting (the Aleta Way), and has helped previous employers thrive. Now it is her time to work hard for herself and to restore faith in the Human Resources profession, one person and one business at a time.
